Ginta Lapina Loses Round Two

DESPITE having won round one, Ginta Lapina has lost the latest round of litigation against her former agency, Women NY.

A New York court found in favour of the agency, dismissing Lapina's claims against it and granting Women NY's motion to compel arbitration. The finding means that Lapina will now be required to enter mediation out of court with the agency in an attempt to bring the matter to its conclusion.

Lapina was sued by Women NY late last year after she left to join rival agency DNA. The Latvian model then counter-sued, claiming that she was owed thousands in unpaid fees and that the agency allowed images of her which were intended only for lookbook use to be used for an international campaign - a job that should have been much more lucrative for her.

She won the first round of litigation in November 2014, when an injunction to stop her working under new agency DNA was dismissed by the judge. Having said that, Lapina hasn't walked in a catwalk show since the Alexander Wang for H&M show in October 2014, the same month that she departed Women.
